Foshan Radio recently installed one of the largest networked audio systems in Asia at the Foshan Media Group facility in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China. 

Audio Design Company, Ltd. of Hong Kong and Beijing spearheaded this record project which included: two WheatNET® 2464 24-port router hubs in a dual auto-failover configuration, four Bridge routers, two Bridge satellite routers, one remote transmission site Bridge satellite router connected via a 2Km fiber link, two G-5 20-fader control surfaces, one G-4 20-fader control surface, one G-3 12-fader control surface, two G-3 8-fader control surfaces, plus three Vorsis® AP-3 voice processors.

Foshan Radio has been a client of Wheatstone for over a decade.  Back in December 2003, the Central Government of China and the Foshan Government decided to establish the Foshan Media Group, which combined the region’s media formats.

Tsang stated that Foshan required a “powerful, not too complicated and stable network system.” 


By 2004, Radio Foshan began searching for equipment for their new facility.  Mark Tsang of Audio Design Company Ltd. reported, “at the NAB show that same year, several of Radio Foshan’s engineers visited the Wheatstone booth and were immediately impressed with Wheatstone’s G series digital radio consoles.” 

In January 2005, Foshan Media Group acquired four other nearby stations:Nanhai Radio, Shunde Radio, Gaoming Radio and Sanshui Radio, giving Foshan Radio 6 FM channels which are: FM94.6 Information, FM98.5 Music Channel, FM92.4 Traffic Channel, FM90.1 Economy, FM90.6, and FM88.3 Arts Channel of Radio Foshan.

The Foshan Media Group powerhouse facility is comprised of over 15 studios utilized by the Radio Broadcasting, TV Broadcasting, Newspaper, Periodicals, Publishing House, Cable TV Network, Performer Groups and Theaters divisions. Total assets equal 2.1 billion Yuan, making the Foshan Group the largest, regional cross-media enterprise in China.
