Nestled in the Smoky Mountains of Western
North Carolina, Jeff Laurence's
Autumn Hill Studios has been operating as an independent audio
production facility since relocating from Tampa Bay, Florida in 1992.
"My wife Carol and I operate the facility. She is a commercial
copywriter. Our studio is a private facility that provides superior
quality audio production for radio and television clients.
For radio, we produce station "imaging" and promotional elements for
nearly
100 domestic and international radio outlets owned by some of the
largest corporate names in the industry including Clear Channel,
Infinity, ABC/Disney, Cumulus, Citadel, Cox, Entercom, and many
others. Most tracks are delivered over the Internet via a
dedicated fractional T1 data line and produced on an Adobe Audition 1.5
system.

Earlier in 2004, the
decision was made to upgrade our entire main studio, and when the need
for a new console arose we contacted Mike Phelps at SCMS
in
Charlotte. His first recommendation was the Wheatstone /Audioarts
series to not only serve our immediate needs, but to meet with
budgetary approval and future expansion. When the final decision was
made to go with the R-90, we were on the way. The console was
shipped
immediately and was on hand as soon as the studio reconstruction was
finished.
One of Mike's best suggestions was
to get the console pre-wiring done
..a smart move indeed! This made the installation
foolproof.
Wheatstone offers an array of interface products that work with the
various outboard gear available and the "plug and play" ability was
attractive for us up here in a
small town
with not a lot of local engineers at hand.
As a studio with a need for
multiple program and audition line feeds,
we needed two solid distribution amplifiers. Again...Mike Phelps
made
the call
and
suggested the Audioarts model 8400 DA's...We were fortunate to
enlist the expert support of Robert "Redd" Stillion of Hickory, NC to
properly configure and label our cabling and connectors.
Mike had
the two Audioarts distribution
amplifiers drop shipped to him along with the console manual and he was
on the case. When the cables arrived they were a work of art-labeled perfectly and ready to go.
On
the day of install, engineer Stephen German of Tampa arrived in Atlanta
and we made a weekend of it! A flawless installation and with
only a few
hours of downtime we were up and running with the R-90 in less than a
day! By the way.. for new studio monitors we chose the Blue Sky 2.1
Bi-amp
system...awesome!

Our
clients are really happy with the clean sound, and coupled with our
vintage Telefunken and Neumann mic assortment we are real proud of our
new studio..both its sound and its ease of use and great looks.
Carol and I invite you to call anytime and discuss your potential purchase of a Wheatstone/Audioarts console!
Be forewarned...you'll get a rave review from us! And a big THANK
YOU..from a very satisfied customer!"
