History

Founded as Audioarts Engineering in 1974, the company was born in the attic of the founder's home in Connecticut. The company manufactured audio consoles for recording studios and sound touring companies, as well as audio processing equipment (limiters, equalizers, crossovers, etc.), under its own name. Later audio consoles, beginning with the popular LM-80 "Wheatstone" console, bore the Wheatstone branding.

The Grey BarnThe Grey BarnThe company incorporated in 1981 as Wheatstone Corporation in the state of Connecticut and entered the broadcast market, also moving to a larger production site known as the Grey Barn. Targeting the high-end console market was compatible with the quality standards previously set, and the corporation quickly established a reputation for offering quality equipment at fair prices. It has built broadcast consoles since 1981.

The Syracuse FacilityThe Syracuse FacilityGrowth caused the company to seek new quarters in 1986, and Wheatstone moved to Syracuse, NY. This move allowed the company to utilize the large electronics industry workforce in that city. The company continued to expand its product line, moving into the television market, as well as into the radio market.

In 1998 Wheatstone relocated to its state-of-the-art, 52,000 square foot facility in New Bern, NC. This turnkey operation has a workforce of almost 100 employees. Wheatstone Corporation manufactures digital control surfaces, digital audio networks, AOIP automation audio and control interfaces, digital signal processors along with studio furniture and accessories.
